Job Profile Summary

This role focuses on utilizing advanced imaging techniques to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment. Key responsibilities include performing ultrasound duties, utilizing ultrasound technology to provide images of internal body structures, and working under limited supervision to analyze complex problems and provide assistance to entry-level employees.

Job Overview

Under the general direction of the Ultrasound Clinical Supervisor, performs a variety of procedures involving the use of high-frequency sound waves to investigate internal body structures. Requires a high degree of technical knowledge pertaining to acoustics and anatomy, as well as the ability to evaluate laboratory data and tailor examinations to individual patients.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Associate's degree or two-year certificate program in Ultrasound
  2. Two years of experience as an ultrasound technologist, with one additional year of experience performing vascular examinations
  3. American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification within one year of hire
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Sets up and operates equipment, manipulating transducers and adjusting console dials to obtain clear recordings of specified body sections
  2. Assists radiologists and/or vascular surgeons in interpretation by describing anatomy and acoustic characteristics
  3. Generates computer reports on arterial studies, including previous studies and pertinent history
  4. Maintains a daily log of vascular patients and prepares annual and monthly statistics
  5. Schedules in-patients and out-patients for vascular examinations, consulting with referring physicians regarding clinical history
  6. Maintains and tests equipment to ensure reliability and obtains timely repair service as needed
  7. Develops and presents instructional programs on technical vascular procedures for ultrasound, medical, and nursing staff
  8. Coordinates quarterly vascular quality assurance meetings and distributes meeting minutes
  9. Applies for ICAVL accreditation and maintains current accreditation
  10. Participates in evaluation and selection of new ultrasound and vascular equipment
  11. Stays up-to-date with new developments, techniques, and equipment in the ultrasound field
Physical Requirements

Frequent standing, occasional sitting and walking, lifting of 30-35 lbs, pushing and maneuvering equipment
