At the Good Samaritan Society, we are seeking a Spiritual Care Provider to join our team. As a Spiritual Care Provider, you will provide spiritual care and support to residents, their families, and employees. You will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to develop and provide spiritual support to residents, patients, clients, families, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide spiritual care and support to residents, their families, and employees.
  • Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to develop and provide spiritual support to residents, patients, clients, families, and staff.
  • Administer and coordinate the administration of sacraments.
  • Help ensure appropriate worship and Bible study opportunities are available to all residents.
  • Help ensure development of and participates in the spiritual life programming.
  • Invites and encourages employees to participate in the spiritual life of the location, and encourages, trains, and empowers them in their providing spiritual care.
  • Is available to staff for pastoral care as needed and refers to appropriate resources.
  • Documents visits and care provided to residents.
  • Works collaboratively with others in ensuring the meeting of residents' spiritual needs.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Theology with the Association of Theological Schools (seminary or equivalent) with a Master of Divinity or a Master of Theology degree strongly preferred.
  • Completion of two units of Clinical Pastoral Education or being certified or credentialed as a chaplain, along with being endorsed or affirmed for this ministry by denomination is preferred.
  • Must be an active member in good standing of a Christian denomination per Good Samaritan Society's "A Description of Being Christian in the Lutheran Tradition."
  • Required to be ordained, licensed, or commissioned to function in a religious vocation by an appropriate religious authority.
