Role Overview:
The Diagnostic Medical and Vascular Sonographer, under general supervision, conducts a variety of Sonography and Vascular Sonography procedures in alignment with departmental protocols. This role involves performing ultrasound examinations on patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics, assisting physicians during interventional procedures, and applying appropriate technical factors. The sonographer is responsible for specific areas or procedures and participates in the AdventHealth performance improvement initiatives. Compliance with the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and all relevant local, state, and federal regulations is essential. Active participation in delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining respectful relationships is expected.

- Consistently achieves high-quality imaging results based on patient characteristics and preparation status, as evaluated by Radiologists and departmental leadership.
- Demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning and skill enhancement. Stays updated with new procedures and assists in training less experienced staff.
- Completes examinations efficiently, ensuring patient preparation is adequate and scheduling is appropriate. Communicates findings to physicians and maintains professionalism with all patients and families.
- Accurately documents and charges procedures to meet departmental and hospital quality standards. Adheres to all AdventHealth policies and procedures.
- Conducts a full range of diagnostic ultrasound procedures and operates all relevant equipment. Flexibility to rotate between various campuses and departments as required. Adapts to new technologies and assists in developing the skills of colleagues and students.
Qualifications for Success:
- Minimum Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Program
- Certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in the following specialties:
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - Abdomen (AB)
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN)
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - Vascular (VT)
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related discipline
