Job Summary

We are seeking a Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) to join our team. As a CCHT, you will utilize your technical and critical thinking skills daily to perform and monitor dialysis treatments under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role exists in a hospital or medical unit of a post-acute or correctional facility.

Responsibilities
  • Understand basic renal function and the consequences of renal failure
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of treatment modalities available to ESRD patients
  • Understand and perform the hemodialysis procedure according to Rendevor Dialysis policies and procedures
  • Ensure that all safety checks are completed before dialysis is initiated
  • Monitor and record dialysis treatment parameters such as vital signs, weight changes, etc. and communicate information to licensed personnel
  • Demonstrate an understanding of sterile technique
  • Know and follow all Rendevor Dialysis policies and procedures for infection control and understand the hazards associated with failing to follow those procedures
  • Perform thorough patient assessments, as evidenced by documentation and feedback to the licensed personnel
  • Promote the education of patients and their understanding of their disease and its treatment
  • Obtain blood samples and culture specimens as ordered and perform routine tests
  • Administer oxygen as necessary by cannula or mask under direction of the nurse
  • Participate in CPR as needed
  • Wash machines, station area and chairs according to established procedures after each patient treatment
  • Prepare daily dialysis logs and set-ups for each shift of patients as directed
  • Prepare, record and file laboratory reports as directed
  • Stock and order necessary blood work supplies, e.g., blood tubes, requisitions and envelopes as directed
  • Help to maintain a neat and clean environment
  • Perform all tasks necessary for the safe, smooth, and efficient operation of the unit - this may include, but is not limited to, water checks, opening and closing of the unit, mixing bicarbonate and acid, bath distribution, maintenance of the water treatment system and assisting with stocking of supplies
  • Participate in the IDT and QAPI committee and attend meetings as needed and/or requested
  • Identify and report concerns, issues, and opportunities for improvement when identified
  • Participate in performance improvement projects within licensure, certification, and scope of practice
  • Participate in annual QAPI training and other continuing education, as assigned, and required
  • Provide suggestions for alternate strategies for indicators not improving
  • Assist in building and maintaining a facility/clinic culture of safety and quality
  • Report errors and near misses so that steps can be taken to prevent recurrence
  • Report any negative feedback, complaints, grievances from other staff members, patients, and families
  • Use evidence-based guidelines and proper infection control practices
  • Contribute to harmonious and constructive working relationships with all staff members to promote a positive and productive atmosphere
  • Ensure the confidentiality of patient, employee, and company information
  • Participate in self and/or peer evaluations
  • Promote a teamwork approach by offering information, advice, and assistance to all unit staff members in a positive, courteous, and cooperative manner
  • Communicate significant information to appropriate team members and documents in a clear, concise, and accurate manner
  • Check email at least weekly and respond appropriately and timely; use company-provided email for all work-related email communications
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance and punctuality
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Nationally recognized Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician certification (CCHT) or equivalent
  • Current CPR certification
  • One year of recent clinical dialysis experience required (experience must be within the last two years)
Work Environment

This role exists in a hospital or medical unit of a post-acute or correctional facility. This role may include exposure to chemicals and blood-borne pathogens. This role routinely involves the use of both medical and standard office equipment.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds. Specific visual abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to work the full schedule which may range from five to fifteen hours per day, based on the unit requirements (i.e. patient census, staffing needs, etc.).
