Role Summary

Welcome and warmly greet guests on arrival, creating a positive first impression that sets the tone for an exceptional dining experience. Answer telephone calls, take reservations, and manage the efficient seating of guests to a table that best suits their preferences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guest Greeting: Warmly and graciously greet all guests upon arrival, making them feel welcome and valued.
  • Coat and Bag Check: Check coats or bags, ensuring they are secure and out of the way.
  • Phone and Reservation Management: Answer phones, make reservations, and take messages in a timely and professional manner.
  • Seating and Waiting Management: When immediate seating is limited, provide guests with estimated waiting times and take note of where they are waiting, seating them promptly when tables become available.
  • Conflict Resolution: Maintain a professional, courteous attitude when confronted with hostile, impatient, or irate guests, resolving issues in a fair and respectful manner.
  • Special Requests: Accommodate special seating requests for guests whenever possible, ensuring their needs are met.
  • Guest Notes and Communication: Relay guest notes to servers, kitchen, and managers as needed, ensuring seamless communication and service.
  • Supply Management: Maintain supplies at the host stand according to restaurant checklist, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation.
  • Menu and Beverage Services: Print menus and beverage lists as needed, and clean menus of food and stains.
  • Guest Farewell: Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return, fostering a loyal customer base.
  • Gift Card Processing: Process gift cards, ensuring accurate and efficient transactions.
  • Team Support: Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant, as directed by the restaurant manager.
Requirements
  • Previous Experience: Previous restaurant experience preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication and listening skills, with the ability to effectively interact with guests and team members.
  • Presentation and Appearance: Pleasant, polite manner and a neat and clean appearance, reflecting positively on the restaurant.
  • Self-Motivation: Self-motivated and interested in taking on additional roles and responsibilities, with a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours) and lift up to 50 lbs, reach, bend, and stoop.
