Job Title: Associate Environmental Scientist

ECC is seeking a highly skilled Associate Environmental Scientist to join our team. As an Associate Environmental Scientist, you will play a key role in helping plan, select, coordinate, and implement scientific and engineering services to address environmental remediation and hazardous waste management projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and other stakeholders to ensure project progress and deliverables meet approved budgets and schedules.
  • Select and apply appropriate environmental technologies and cost-effective solutions to remediate or remove contaminants and meet project objectives.
  • Plan, prepare, review, and issue project and field submittals within approved budgets, including work plans, design documents, analytical reports, field submittals, operation & maintenance reports, and closure reports.
  • Apply industry standards of practice for selected technology, adhering to regulatory codes and standards, national/local standards, and company SOPs.
  • Identify, address, and communicate technical, operational, and business risks relevant to the selected project approach and technology to the project manager.
  • Author RFQs and assist in procurement and selection of technical and specialty subcontractors, consultants, and service providers to accomplish scope of work.
  • Report to the field to perform, observe, and/or inspect fieldwork.
  • Review work of personnel, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure compliance with approved plans and acceptable tolerances.
  • Ensure that appropriate and required testing is completed by qualified personnel using properly calibrated equipment.
  • Evaluate, review, monitor, and document results and help make necessary decisions/adjustments to procedures.
  • Complete related documentation (field reports, logs, meeting minutes, online submittal sites) in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Investigate and recommend solutions in response to field changes, RFIs, and resolve fieldwork issues related to quality, technology, installed equipment, and operation.
Requirements:
  • The ability to communicate in written or verbal formats with diplomacy and tact.
  • An aptitude for exercising independent thinking and reasoning.
  • Strong organizational skills, and skilled at leading dispersed teams to accomplish tasks and activities adhering to established budget and schedule.
  • Skilled in achieving project objectives by properly reviewing/inspecting work for adherence to approved technical plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge applying scientific standards of practice and regulatory codes and standards to environmental and field techniques.
  • Proven knowledge in reading and comprehending client requirements, technical plans, specifications, and related technical documentation.
  • Successful track record in effectively engaging with subcontractors.
  • Ability to mentor and guide team members and share lessons learned.
  • Dedicated to remaining abreast of technology developments and industry trends.
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office products, email systems, and Windows.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience performing in-situ or ex-situ environmental systems design, scientific analysis, field engineering support, or quality control on environmental remediation or hazardous waste management projects.
  • Education - This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Life, Earth, or Natural Sciences, Environmental Management, or related field is required for this position. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for this requirement.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Life, Earth, or Natural Sciences or Engineering.
  • Engineering, or environmental credential (e.g., EIT, EPI, PE, PG).
  • HAZWOPER 40 Hour Certification and 8 Hour Refresher.
  • USACE Contractor Quality Management for Contractors certification.
  • Two years of field support.
  • US Government contracting experience.
  • Active membership in professional organizations.

ECC offers a competitive salary range of $70,000 to $90,000 annually, depending on education, training, certifications, experience, skills, level of responsibility, and location.
