Job Description

The Operations Director will provide strategic leadership and implementation of core values and our overall mission of protecting our customers' people, business, and time. This position will be responsible for the management and ongoing development of employees at the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies to create and maintain safe work practices, ensuring compliance with Company, Local, State, and Federal regulations.
  • Staff Management: Manage a staff of employees, fostering a culture of teamwork and collaboration.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure safety compliance in accordance with Company, Local, State, and Federal regulations as it relates to the Site.
  • Loss Prevention: Protect the company's employees, customers, and assets against losses, injuries, and accidents through enforcement of safe work practices.
  • Team Building: Foster team building through leadership practices and regular communication strategies.
  • Workforce Planning: Utilize Site and organization data for workforce forecasting to predict staffing needs.
  • Accident Prevention: Prevent accidents and other safety exposures by investigating, identifying causes, and developing preventative measures and practices.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Become a subject matter expert in work zone setup/design and professional flagging.
  • Credentials: Maintain traffic control, safety, and supervisor credentials.
  • Recruitment: Participate in the recruiting and hiring strategies in conjunction with Human Resources.
  • New Hire Orientation: Conduct Site new hire orientation and ongoing training.
  • Safety Meetings: Facilitate safety and committee meetings.
  • Asset Management: Responsible for tracking and auditing the usage of assets, employees, and time for projects.
  • Customer Service: Ensure customer service issues are addressed promptly and efficiently while providing the highest level of customer service.
  • Business Development: Solidify AWP's presence in the service area and identify potential opportunities for growth.
  • Employee Development: Engage and invest in the training of new and current employees to reduce turnover, promote efficiency, and reduce labor costs.
  • Employee Issues: Manage daily employee issues including payroll, timekeeping, benefits, time off requests, scheduling, and customer issues.
  • Collective Bargaining: Ability to understand and adhere to a collective bargaining agreement (if applicable).

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience: 5-7 years of management experience required.
  • Availability: Must have open availability.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership with excellent communication and coaching skills.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent motivation and organizational skills.
  • Computer Skills: Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office products and customer relationship management systems.
  • Financial Management: Experience managing P&L.
  • Process Improvement: Process Improvement - Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma preferred.
  • Business Development: Experience in Business Development - top & bottom line.
  • Team Building: Significant experience developing high-performing teams.
  • Brand Development: The proactive approach to brand development.
  • Customer Relationships: Building strong customer relationships.
  • Business Planning: Ability to develop and execute business plans.
  • Safety Practices: Must adhere to and promote safe workplace practices.
  • Driver's License: Must maintain a current, valid driver's license and a clean driving record void of suspension or restrictions.
