Job Overview

Information Technology Services Intern

As an intern at Ketel Thorstenson, LLP, you will play a vital role in supporting the project team by contributing to integrated system solutions and ensuring the security of sensitive data and systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Address and resolve help desk tickets.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for employees facing technology-related challenges, particularly with local workstations, printers, mobile devices, and network resources.
  • Assist in the configuration and setup of employee hardware.
  • Regularly update hardware and software applications as instructed.
  • Support the integration of new systems and applications into current infrastructures.
  • Participate in system security administration and conduct periodic security assessments.
  • Handle the lifting and transportation of various equipment.
  • Familiarize yourself with and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Build professional relationships with vendors and colleagues.
  • Engage in professional development and training opportunities.
  • Maintain the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.

Potential Areas of Involvement

  • Collaborate with end users and the team to define the technological needs within departments.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and provide feedback on their potential adoption to enhance organizational efficiency.
  • Review system upgrades and document feedback to improve support and operations.
  • Conduct structured analysis and data modeling to test systems and resolve outstanding issues.
  • Install or repair applications and educate employees on relevant software and hardware.
  • Maintain computer hardware, software, and other systems.
  • Troubleshoot IT equipment issues, including printers and computers, as well as software applications.
  • Document technical issues and their resolutions to enhance support and maintenance processes.
  • Assess technology specifications for compliance with security and business continuity policies.

Qualifications

To qualify for the internship program, candidates must be enrolled as full-time or part-time students in any degree program and meet the following criteria:

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Industrial Systems Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Possess strong technical skills with a solid understanding of software development and hardware principles.
  • Hold a valid State Driver's License.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and meet insurance requirements following a motor vehicle record check.

Work Schedule

This is a temporary internship position requiring 15 to 25 hours of work per week, scheduled around academic commitments. Typical hours are Monday through Friday during standard business hours, with internships lasting between six to twelve weeks.
