Position Overview

In this role, you will assist in learning the responsibilities associated with patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures under the guidance of a certified preceptor. Your responsibilities will include managing instruments, supplies, and equipment essential for surgical operations while ensuring a sterile environment. You will also gain insights into the procedures being performed and develop the ability to anticipate the surgeon's needs, ensuring quality care throughout the operative process.

Key Responsibilities:
- Execute interventions, skills, and procedures in accordance with established surgical standards and protocols under the supervision of a Certified Surgical Technologist. This includes preparing the operating room with necessary supplies and equipment based on patient needs, ensuring patient safety and comfort, and maintaining a sterile field.
- Develop the skills to manage unexpected events and crisis situations with professionalism, remaining alert to potential issues and notifying appropriate personnel as needed.
- Learn to perform technical procedures safely and effectively, taking responsibility for personal education and professional development.
- Utilize organizational resources effectively, managing supplies and equipment to minimize waste and promote efficiency.
- Establish and maintain a sterile surgical environment, adhering to proper sterilization and disinfection protocols to reduce infection risks.
- Assist in various roles to maintain high-quality standards while managing costs.
- Conduct accurate counts as per operating room policies, demonstrating attention to detail and oversight from a preceptor.
- Support the institution's goals by operating efficiently and presenting a positive image to the community.
- Assist in ensuring all necessary elements are in place for the successful completion of surgical procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required:
Education - High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
Physical Requirements: Heavy work - exerting up to 25 pounds of force constantly, and/or up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or up to 100 pounds occasionally. Possible exposure to radiation and infectious materials. Ability to work designated shift lengths, including night shifts or irregular hours.
