Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Administrative & Operations Executive Director for Defense Business Development to join our team at the Oklahoma Aerospace and Defense Innovation Institute (OADII). This is a unique opportunity to lead strategic business development efforts and drive innovation in the defense and security sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and direct a strategic business development plan aligned with the institute's long-term goals and objectives.
  • Lead the institute's cultivation and preservation of strategic partnerships with industry leaders, government agencies, and international collaborators.
  • Negotiate and manage partnership agreements, joint ventures, and collaborative research initiatives.
  • Represent OADII across the university and identify research and funding opportunities.
  • Provide visionary leadership and foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Build faculty teams and develop research grant proposals.
  • Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and technology assessments.
  • Act as OADII representative at industry conferences and networking events.
  • Collaborate with university leadership and faculty members to align business development efforts with academic and research priorities.
  • Develop and manage budgets for business development activities.
  • Formalize and enact systems to track and analyze key performance metrics and financial outcomes.
  • Perform routine reviews and performance analysis to identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with university policies, funding agency regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Mitigate risks associated with contracts, partnerships, and intellectual property.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management/Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 10 years of experience in business development within the national defense and security sector.
  • Active security TS clearance or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment.

  • Knowledge of government contracting and acquisition trends.
  • Strong proposal development and writing skills.
  • Ability to analyze market trends and develop innovative proposal strategies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional networking and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Excellent communication, presentation skills, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and CRM software.
  • Technical proficiency to identify research applicable to defense-related issues.
  • Strong understanding of government contracting and funding mechanisms.
Working Conditions

  • Must be able to engage in repetitive motions and communicate effectively.
  • Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods.
  • Ability to communicate, including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others.
