Your Role and Responsibilities

As a member of our Linux development team, you will be instrumental in enhancing the Linux kernel for advanced systems, including device drivers, libraries, tools, compilers, debuggers, and virtualization technologies. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with international development teams and global Open Source maintainers, focusing on supporting cutting-edge architectures.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and specifying new enhancements to the Linux kernel.
  • Writing code and automating tests to ensure high-quality software.
  • Conducting performance analysis and troubleshooting issues.
  • Submitting your contributions to upstream community repositories.
  • Engaging with Open Source communities and distribution partners.

We are particularly interested in expanding our KVM development team, which focuses on kernel, QEMU, and libvirt technologies.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 3+ years of experience in Open Source development related to KVM, Linux kernel, QEMU, libvirt, virtio, or vfio.
  • 2+ years of experience in low-level or assembler programming, ideally on non-x86 architectures.
  • 2+ years of experience in operating systems and hypervisor development.
  • Strong understanding of operating systems internals, including memory management and device drivers.
  • Proficiency in source code management systems and scripting languages.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Established contributions to Open Source projects or maintaining Open Source status.
  • Experience with virtualization and emulation technologies.
  • Familiarity with current I/O technologies and IBM Z architecture.
  • Strong motivation and excellent communication skills.
