Fire Protection Specialist

**Job Summary:**
The Fire Protection Specialist will be responsible for responding to emergency calls, preventing fires, and providing medical assistance as needed. You will work closely with the Awendaw District Fire Department to maintain a high level of proficiency in firefighting techniques, emergency vehicle operations, and hazardous materials handling.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Respond to emergency calls and provide firefighting services to protect people and property
* Participate in fire prevention and inspection activities to identify potential fire hazards
* Develop and maintain knowledge of local fire codes and regulations
* Collaborate with other emergency responders to provide medical assistance and support
* Maintain equipment and vehicles in a safe and operational condition
**Requirements:**
To be successful as a Fire Protection Specialist, you must possess the following minimum qualifications:
* 18 years of age
* High school graduate or equivalent
* Valid S.C. driver's license (Class E or CDL) with a good driving record
* Current IFSAC or Pro-Board Firefighter II certification
* Current SCFA Emergency Vehicle Drivers Training (EVDT) certification
* Current SCFA Haz-Mat Operations Certification, or higher
* Current Medical Emergency Responder/Professional CPR Certification or higher
* NIMS / ICS 100, ICS 200, and NIMS 700
**Preferred Qualifications:**
* NREMT-Basic or higher
