Division Manager

This position will oversee the Inspections Division for the Building Inspection Services Department, providing technical support and serving as primary manager for all fire-related issues as the assistant fire marshal to the Building Official.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate the Inspections Division, including building inspections, code enforcement activities, and fire inspections.
- Provide technical support and serve as primary manager for all fire-related issues.
- Review construction of buildings to protect citizens' life, health, and welfare and enforce related laws and regulations.
- Manage daily operations of inspection processes for compliance with adopted policies and procedures.
- Recommend operational guidelines, policy, and procedure modifications necessary to ensure the department's smooth operation.
- Develop and prepare narrative and statistical progress reports as necessary to determine the department's operation.
- Ensure proper workflow and efficiency in inspections and provide technical assistance to contractors, builders, architects, engineers, and owners.
- Investigate complaints and resolve issues, including court time when necessary.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree required, Master's preferred.
- SCBCC certifications in residential and commercial plan review or inspections or building official registration.
- SC Registered State Fire Marshal certification.
- NIMS (National Incident Management System) certifications 100, 200, 300, 700, and 800 within one year of employment.
- Five or more years' experience in construction code management and enforcement, leadership, and knowledge of building and construction principles and practices.
