Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sterile Processing Technician to join our team as a Lead. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety are maintained. You will work closely with the OR staff to prepare the O.R. suite for surgery, assist in instrument preparation, and verify that required instrumentation has been sterilized and is available for next-day, call, or weekend cases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the OR staff in preparing the O.R. suite for surgery by assisting in instrument preparation.
  • Verify that required instrumentation has been sterilized and is available for next-day, call, or weekend cases.
  • Document and send broken instrumentation out for repair.
  • Complete documentation as required for instrument sets, etc. (Case Cart, Post Case, and Tray Audits).
  • Respond to problem calls from OR.
  • Transport sterilized instrumentation to the O.R. area as needed.
  • Act as HLD Specialist and perform/assist with daily quality testing on equipment in SPD.
  • Assist supervisor in day-to-day activities, including answering phones and daily staff assignment sheet.
  • Communicate closely with staff members concerning instrument requirements and availability.
  • Manage needs list for tray inventory.
  • Maintain SPM tracking system, including updates on instrumentation, creating new products, and updating count sheets.
Requirements
  • 2 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician required.
  • Certification as CSPDT (CBSPD) or CRCST (HSPA) required.
  • Additional certification in Sterile Processing Management - C.S.P.M or Healthcare Leadership – CHL preferred.
