Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and comfort of patients through evidence-based clinical decision-making and compassionate communication. This position involves delivering and coordinating patient-centered care throughout the healthcare continuum, facilitating smooth transitions for patients to other healthcare systems or their home environments.
The SICU is a specialized 14-bed unit dedicated to providing comprehensive nursing care for a diverse range of surgical and trauma patients, including those recovering from cardiac surgeries.
Requirements:- Graduate from an accredited nursing program with a current Illinois RN license.
- BSN is preferred; ADN is acceptable with a commitment to enroll in a BSN completion program within four years for nurses with less than 12 months of experience.
- A minimum of 1 year of nursing experience is required, preferably in Critical Care or on a surgical telemetry unit.
- Current AHA CPR and ACLS certifications are mandatory.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and various shifts as needed.
- Some positions may require on-call duties.
- Work environment may involve exposure to adverse or hazardous conditions.
- Ability to assist in patient evacuation during emergencies.
- Experience handling potentially infectious specimens and patients.
- Capability to respond promptly to patient needs and navigate all areas of the unit.
- Physical ability to lift up to 35 pounds independently; for heavier lifts, patient handling equipment and assistance from team members are expected.
