At Bancroft, we are seeking a highly skilled Speech Therapist to join our team. As a Speech Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing diagnostic and therapeutic services to students with communication and oral motor disorders. Your expertise will help students acquire functional performance skills needed to access, participate in, and benefit from the educational environment.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct diagnostic assessments to determine the need for therapeutic intervention, level of intellectual functioning, communication and oral motor abilities, and achievement performance. Provide direct and consultative treatment services for communication and oral motor disorders to students, family members, direct care givers, education faculty, and staff members within the education environment. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address specific communication and oral motor needs. Collaborate with external Audiologist to review records and interpret audiological testing results. Provide recommendations for service delivery and assist in the planning and development of goals specific to communication and oral motor therapy and treatment services. Assist faculty in designing classroom strategies that enhance learning and create an environment best suited to students' profiles and needs. Provide individual, group, and integrated direct treatment, therapy, and/or special skill development/enhancement to students. Promote independence and competency of each person within their ability limit. Plan and schedule frequency and duration of sessions in accordance with individual needs and School District mandates. Provide suggestions regarding the utilization of techniques and/or materials to support and enhance learning abilities. Recommend appropriate assistive and augmentative equipment to facilitate optimal functioning within the classroom environment. Demonstrate and instruct students and staff in the proper use of functional and assistive equipment, devices, strategies, and techniques specific to addressing communication and oral motor disorders. Utilize a system of documentation that is professional, efficient, accountable, and conforms to federal, state, and School policies and procedures. Develop and maintain progress reports, session notes, treatment summary reports, etc., as mandated by the IPP.
Requirements
Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology to include a National Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) from the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association (ASHA) required. N.J. State Department of Education (DOE) Certification as Speech Language Specialist required.
