We are seeking a skilled Pump Station Mechanic to join our team at the City of New Bern. As a key member of our wastewater collection team, you will be responsible for the inspection, repair, and maintenance of pumping station equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect and maintain sewer pumping stations and related equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including lubricating pumps and motors, and making repairs to malfunctioning parts.
- Read and interpret various meters and gauges to diagnose equipment issues.
- Adjust, repair, and replace malfunctioning parts, including bearings, gauges, seats, and packing.
- Make repairs to float and air type pump controls, and replace fuses as needed.
- Maintain and repair vacuum sewer stations, and perform related tasks as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent, and considerable experience in the repair and maintenance of pumping station equipment.
- Possession of an appropriate commercial driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina.
- Possession of Grade-I Wastewater Collection certification issued by the State of North Carolina.
This position requires the ability to work in difficult work stations for extended periods, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
