Job Summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a qualified Music Instructor to join our team at the Wisconsin & Upper Michigan Division Kroc Center. As a Music Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching individual and group music lessons, developing curriculum and assessments, and establishing collaborative partnerships within the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach individual and group music lessons to students of various ages and skill levels.
  • Design and implement curriculum, assessment rubrics, and lesson plans for each course taught.
  • Develop and implement ongoing collaborative partnerships for music programming with schools and organizations.
  • Participate in recruitment and outreach efforts to promote music programs.
  • Attend staff meetings and contribute to the development of music programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Music or equivalent qualified performance experience.
  • Three years of teaching experience, either in a classroom setting or private/group lessons.
  • Record of musical performance experience.
  • Evidence of experience in curriculum development.

Competencies and Skills

  • Ability to work with children, parents, and staff in a leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative and be a self-starter.
  • Performance experience in individual content area of teaching.
  • Working knowledge of music literature.
  • Philosophy of education and child development consistent with The Salvation Army's mission.
  • Positive attitude and ability to be flexible.
  • Willingness to promote The Salvation Army's mission.

Working Conditions

This job is performed at the Wisconsin & Upper Michigan Division Kroc Center in an office environment at normal room temperature. The noise level in this work environment is usually low.

For other duties of this job, such as outdoor special events and community center activities, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.

The noise level in the work environment at these events is usually moderate to loud.
