Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Costume Coordinator to join our team at Harvard University. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the purchasing, sourcing, and maintenance of costumes for our productions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate in-person purchasing of costume items, supplies, and materials in NYC using ART purchasing resources, while staying within the designated budget set by the Costume Manager.

• Assist with sourcing build shops and support costume labor in NYC for build, fittings, alterations, and other requests.

• Receive and process packages at the temporary design room/fittings space and use A.R.T. Costume Dept. paperwork to track and coordinate purchases with the Assistant Costume Shop Manager and Boston Costume Coordinator.

• Track and process in-person and online shopping returns as needed in collaboration with the Boston Costume Coordinator.

• Work with the Costume Design team to ship fabric, notions, and other relevant materials to commercial costume businesses and private contractors.

Fittings and Administration:

• Confirm with Stage Management, Costume Designer(s), Costume Department Staff, and contracted Costume businesses/private contractors' fittings times and dates.

• Support the Costume management team in NYC through notetaking, fittings assisting, pinning garments, resetting fitting room space, cleaning, organizing materials, and pulling garments.

• Maintain a high level of organization of the temporary design room/fittings space.

• Respond to and deliver on rehearsal costume requests of items that are provided by A.R.T. Costume stock or need to be purchased in NYC.

Requirements:

• Strong organizational and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Proficiency in using ART purchasing resources and A.R.T. Costume Dept. paperwork.

• Familiarity with costume design and production processes.

• Ability to travel to A.R.T. during wardrobe load-in to facilitate hand-off to Wardrobe and Costume Management.

Working Conditions:

• The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and priorities.

• The role will involve frequent travel to NYC and occasional travel to A.R.T. during wardrobe load-in.
