Job Summary:

The IB Academy Director is responsible for the overall management and success of the International Ballet Academy in all its locations. The Academy currently operates at two locations in Greer, South Carolina and four outreach/satellite locations in Greenville, South Carolina. The Academy Director reports to the President. The position requires coordination with all internal departments and relevant external partner organizations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement ballet education programs using specific, sequential curricula
  • Collaborate with internal departments to establish school policies, calendar, class schedule, and syllabus
  • Teach ballet classes at all levels and provide expert guidance on ballet pedagogy
  • Hire, train, and evaluate instructors
  • Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Work with faculty to determine school level placements
  • Meet with students and parents as needed
  • Produce the annual End of Year Academy Demonstration
  • Manage the scholarship program
  • Prepare monthly reports for the President and IB Board of Directors
  • Serve as spokesperson for International Ballet Academy as needed
  • Support the Education Committee of the Board of Directors
  • Assist with the development of the Strategic Plan and Annual Reports
Requirements:
  • Dedicated pedagogue with a proven track record of training ballet dancers from a young age
  • Thorough knowledge of classical ballet and Vaganova method/style
  • Established contacts in the national community of schools and companies
  • Inspiring presence in the studio with an ability to motivate students to excellence
  • Strong, highly adaptable verbal and written communication skills for multi-generational, diverse audiences
  • Success driven, idea-generator who stays up to date with dance and ballet industry trends
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Post secondary education or certification in dance education or professional equivalent
  • 10+ years of ballet training with professional performance experience
  • 5+ years' experience teaching ballet
  • Choreographic / Staging experience
Work Environment:

International Ballet is located in Greer, South Carolina, with facilities split between two buildings, within a quarter mile of each other. The lower division facility includes two shared office spaces, a staff kitchen, three dance studios, and a formal lobby. The second facility, the Somerville Center, includes a performance space, two studio spaces, a bistro/break area, and a fully equipped costume design and alteration space.

This is a full-time, salaried position with a competitive salary and benefits package.
