Position Overview:
The Procurement Specialist I is responsible for acquiring designated products, materials, and services to support market demands, location needs, inventory strategies, and working capital goals. This role involves resolving procurement challenges and expediting orders to fulfill production and customer requirements. The specialist will manage allocation and replenishment processes utilizing inventory management tools to assess necessary quantities. Building and maintaining robust relationships with vendors, suppliers, and internal locations is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procures assigned products by engaging with vendors and suppliers to gather details regarding product specifications, pricing, availability, and delivery timelines.
- Aids in the assessment of goods and services by evaluating competitor pricing models, researching market trends, and monitoring order statuses.
- Ensures that all received products align with the original request or bid specifications and addresses any issues related to materials or services at both the departmental and vendor levels.
- Coordinates the return or replacement of products and prepares necessary documentation for inventory management and accounting.- Addresses customer service inquiries from suppliers, field operations, and cross-functional teams.
- Supports operations in sourcing specialized items, obtaining freight/carrier details, tracking order statuses, and ensuring timely order processing.
- Maintains departmental records, including vendor information, bids, quotes, and other relevant correspondence.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in purchasing.
- Alternatively, a combination of education and experience may be considered.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Understanding of material management and procurement processes.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Familiarity with inventory management tools, ERP purchase-to-pay processes, supply chain inventory planning principles, and inventory rebalancing to achieve company inventory objectives.
- Proven skills in establishing and nurturing effective working relationships.- Competence in negotiation.
- Ability to create clear and concise accounting reports.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, ERP systems, and inventory management tools.
Work Environment / Physical Requirements:
- The role involves both a standard office environment and outdoor settings with varying temperatures and weather conditions.
- Must be capable of lifting and carrying items weighing up to 25 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 80 pounds.
- Some travel by car or plane may be necessary.
