We are looking for an Automotive Repair Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will exhibit a proactive approach to problem-solving, possess a strong sense of responsibility, and thrive in a collaborative environment. This position will report to the Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely assess, troubleshoot, and service all systems on trucks and tankers.
- Utilize manufacturer guidelines to conduct maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles.
- Manage inventory of parts, including tires, fuel, and lubricants.
- Perform emergency roadside assistance to ensure fleet availability.
- Maintain the aesthetic condition of the fleet by repairing and fabricating body components.
- Conduct thorough preventive maintenance on all operational equipment.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers to ensure timely completion of repairs.
- Document maintenance activities, warranty claims, and preventive maintenance work orders in tracking systems.
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures within the Fleet Operations Manual.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as required.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to learn manufacturer-specific diagnostic software
- Willingness to work overtime and be on call as needed
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant training and/or experience, which may include:
- Participation in a manufacturer-sponsored training program or similar vocational training in vehicle operation and maintenance.
- Experience as a mechanic or inspector in a fleet maintenance program.
- Experience in vehicle maintenance at a commercial garage or fleet service company.
- Experience as a vehicle inspector for governmental agencies.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic and calibration tools (e.g., pressure gauges, multimeters).
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams for various vehicle systems.
- Maintain compliance with industry bulletins and safety alerts.
- Understand and troubleshoot cryogenic systems, including seal replacements and pump repairs.
- Familiarity with trailer components and their functions (e.g., hoses, valves).
- Knowledge of PTO interlock systems and safety mechanisms.
- Experience with cryogenic systems (including valves and piping)
- ASE certification as a Diesel Mechanic
- Certification in air brake systems
- Certification in air conditioning systems
- State inspection certification
- CDL Class A with hazmat and tanker endorsements
- Skills in fabrication and welding
- Understanding of 12v electrical systems
