About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced RN First Assistant to join our surgical team at Kaiser Permanente in Hillsboro, Oregon. As a key member of our perioperative team, you will provide critical support to our surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgical procedures, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgical procedures, adhering to AORN standards and protocols.
  • Perform pre-operative assessments and evaluations, collaborating with the surgical team to develop a comprehensive plan of care.
  • Provide technical assistance during intra-operative procedures, including handling tissue, providing exposure, and using instruments as directed by the surgeon.
  • Evaluate patients post-operatively, ensuring continuity of care and communicating effectively with the healthcare team.
  • Participate in pre-op briefings, time-outs, and other critical events to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.
Requirements
  • Minimum two years of peri-operative scrubbing and circulating experience in a KP OR or one year experience as an RNFA in or outside of KP.
  • Certification of Completion from AORN recognized RNFA course.
  • Successful completion of an RNFA program that meets the AORN Recommended Education Standards for RNFA and criteria for the CB.PMN acceptance program.
  • Registered Nurse License (Oregon) and Nurse Operating Room Certificate.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum two years of practice as an RNFA.
  • CRNFA certification preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required upon hire/transfer preferred.
