Lead Avionics and Electrical Technician at Gulfstream Aerospace

Key Qualifications:

Highly independent, resourceful, and knowledgeable about Gulfstream products.

Education and Experience Requirements:

A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory. A minimum of 2 years of experience with large or mid-size aircraft is required. Candidates should possess 8 years of experience in the aircraft avionics and electrical field, or alternatively, two (2) years of accredited education in aviation electronics coupled with six (6) years of relevant experience. An FAA A&P license is required, or the ability to secure a repairman certificate within 30 days of employment. An FCC license or NCATT certification is preferred. Position Objective: This role involves planning and coordinating all electrical and avionics operations while providing clients with daily updates on aircraft schedules, repairs, and parts shipments. Collaborates with hangar management to align electrical and avionics tasks with aircraft requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Organizes, schedules, and executes tasks on work authorizations to adhere to the master schedule. Provides management with daily status updates and progress timelines.
  • Coordinates electrical and avionics activities to meet aircraft timelines and objectives. Reviews work documentation to ensure compliance with Site Inspection Procedures Manual, Site Operating Procedures, and FARs.
  • Oversees and mentors electrical technicians, providing technical guidance and ensuring adherence to proper troubleshooting methods for electrical and avionics systems, routine inspections, and preventive maintenance. Contributes to performance evaluations of subordinates.
  • Reviews daily job charging for all personnel to ensure input accuracy.
  • Maintains a preventive maintenance program for test equipment, hand tools, and specialized tools.
  • Keeps current with Aircraft Service Changes (ASC), Customer Bulletins, inspection schedules, vendor information, and all other procedures and publications related to aircraft maintenance.
  • Supervises a comprehensive safety program in the hangar, which includes the operation of support equipment, aircraft systems, and general housekeeping.
  • Maintains necessary logs and records.
  • Enforces company policies regarding FOD, tool control, 5-S programs, and all safety regulations.
  • Demonstrates adaptability to sudden schedule changes.
  • Collaborates with other disciplines on project-related tasks.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Fosters an environment that encourages innovation and Lean thinking.
  • May participate in flight tests on aircraft as required in support of aircraft certification and final phase testing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:

  • Must possess extensive knowledge of aircraft systems, troubleshooting, technical manuals, and aircraft maintenance records.
  • Preferred proficiency in operating and troubleshooting other aircraft systems beyond avionics, such as hydraulics, landing gear, flight controls, environmental controls, or structural installations and repairs.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and avionics system schematics and blueprints.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities are essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, implement, and achieve objectives with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with PC, Windows, and mainframe computer applications, including standard word processing software (e.g., Microsoft Word), is advantageous.
  • Must be capable of climbing ladders and stairs, working in confined spaces, and lifting up to 100 pounds.
  • Proficient in using hand tools and avionics testing equipment.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
