Environmental Specialist

Knife River Northwest is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Technician to join our Technical Services team in Tangent, OR.

• Assist Environmental Managers in ensuring compliance with local and state regulations, including Oregon DEQ Air & Water Quality and Oregon Department of Geology, Mine/Reclamation.
• Monitor permits to ensure timely renewals and updates.
• Collect, sample, and monitor water and/or soil for analysis.
• Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed to prevent unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Associate's degree in environmental science, biology, chemistry, or related field.
• Work experience in an environmental, biology, chemistry, or related role with at least 6 months of field experience.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to read and understand maps and analyze data.
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and standards.
• Strong writing and computer skills, including experience with Microsoft products and geographic information systems (GIS) or other mapping software.
• Strong planning, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
