Environmental Technician Job Description

Knife River Northwest is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Technician to join our team in the beautiful Willamette Valley, Oregon.

Job Summary

As an Environmental Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with local and state regulations, monitoring permits, and conducting environmental sampling and monitoring.

Responsibilities
  • Assist Environmental Managers in ensuring compliance with local and state regulations, including Oregon DEQ Air & Water Quality and Oregon Department of Geology, Mine/Reclamation.
  • Monitor permits to ensure timely renewals and updates.
  • Conduct environmental sampling and monitoring, including collecting and analyzing water and soil samples.
  • Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed to prevent unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in environmental science, biology, chemistry, or a related field.
  • Work experience in an environmental, biology, chemistry, or related role, with at least 6 months of field experience.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to read and understand maps and analyze data.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and standards.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft products and geographic information systems (GIS) or other mapping software.
  • Strong planning, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
