Responsibilities:- Conducts scanning process using ultrasound equipment, adjusting settings to produce optimal images
- Reviews patient history and clinical data to facilitate accurate diagnostic results
- Explains procedures to patients, ensuring cooperation and understanding
- Selects appropriate transducers for optimal results
- Positions patients for optimal imaging
- Reschedules exams as necessary due to poor preparation or other issues
- Ensures image quality and transfers images to PACS for radiologist interpretation
- Assembles diagnostic images and reports for radiologist review
- Assists physicians with interventional procedures and maintains a high standard of professionalism
- RDMS-registered diagnostic medical sonographer (must have AB)
- Successful completion of a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (DMS) program or meets education pre-requisites outlined by the ARDMS
- Knowledge of anatomy, cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and ultrasound physics
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to provide compassionate care
- Ability to recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately
- Proficient in use of GE and Philips scanners
