Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to join our team at TransChicago Truck Group. As a Diesel Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy-duty trucks and equipment, ensuring they are in top working condition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests to identify vehicle condition and worn/damaged parts
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on powertrains, electrical systems, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics, and other major assemblies
  • Complete machine shop operations, including adjustments and alignments
  • Verify vehicle performance through test drives and adjustments
  • Comply with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards
  • Maintain vehicle appearance through cleaning, washing, and painting
  • Keep accurate records of services and repairs
  • Manage shop equipment and supplies, including inventorying stock and ordering parts
Requirements
  • 7-10 years of industry experience
  • Certifications for Detroit, Cummins, Freightliner, or Total Truck Care (preferred)
  • Strong technical understanding and mechanical inspection skills
  • Excellent verbal communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
