Job Summary

To operate mammographic equipment to take x-ray exposures of patients as requested by referring physicians.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet patients and explain the mammographic procedure to ensure a smooth experience.
  • Review patients' medical history prior to performing the mammographic procedure and confirm that they have signed a consent form if necessary.
  • Take x-ray exposures of patients following established protocols for radiation intensity and exposure time.
  • Process film and inspect images to ensure they meet radiologist requirements.
  • Maintain equipment and examination rooms, store film, and manage related supplies.
  • Prepare patient files with essential information, including patient name, date of x-ray, referring physician, and number of exposures.
  • Prepare and submit reports as required by state and federal regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as directed.
Requirements
  • Minimum one year of experience as a Mammography Technologist, including on-the-job training and internships, or registry-eligible ARRT advanced certification in Mammography (obtained within six months of hire) with a minimum of one year of recent experience as a Radiological technologist with ARRT.
  • Specialized training in mammographic technology is required.
  • Radiologic Technologist Certification, Basic Life Support, and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Mammography Technologist are necessary.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to stand, walk, bend, hear, speak, and see, are essential.
  • Proficiency in applicable computer software is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification as a mammographic technologist with the ARRT is preferred.
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) education is preferred.
