About the Role
*Availability on weekends and holidays is required.
Schedule will alternate between shifts: 4am to 12pm and 11am to 7pm.
The Culinary Service Associate is responsible for overseeing inmate labor as well as team members involved in the food service operations within a correctional facility.

This role includes the accurate and efficient preparation and serving of a variety of food items according to assigned work instructions and menus, utilizing various food preparation tools and equipment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Supervise inmate labor and/or team members during food preparation and service shifts in the kitchen.
- Prepare, assist, or instruct inmate labor and/or team members in the timely preparation of quality meals according to the planned menu, recipes, and work instructions.
- Ensure all food is stored properly and maintained in a sanitary manner.
- Serve meals during scheduled times, adhering to department policies and procedures.
- Utilize kitchen utensils and equipment to cook, prepare, and serve food in accordance with recipes.
- Use appropriate utensils to serve portions that meet clients' nutritional needs.
- Follow all food safety regulations related to sanitation, food handling, and storage.
- Train other food service workers as needed.
- Maintain a clean work environment, including cleaning refrigerators, freezers, cooking equipment, and serving tools.
- Adhere to facility uniform policies.
- Manage waste collection and keep kitchen floors clear of excess food and trash.
- Ensure the kitchen is clean and ready for food preparation and serving, including sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing.
- Review proper portions and utensils for service.
- Promote a healthy and safe work environment for all employees and inmates.

This position entails physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods. Candidates must be able to remain on their feet for much of the scheduled shift and perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Preferred:
- Previous experience in institutional food service or restaurant settings is preferred.
