Patient Safety Coordinator

The Patient Safety Coordinator (PSC) Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for executing duties that reflect leadership, meticulous planning, and professional communication. Eligibility Criteria
- Current federal employees of the Veterans Health Administration.
Consideration is limited to permanent employees within the Veterans Health Administration.
Key Responsibilities
The PSC oversees the daily functions and execution of the Patient Safety Program at the facility. This includes collaboration with various departments focused on patient safety, high reliability, and system improvements. The PSC plays a vital role in both short and long-term planning efforts, ensuring compliance with established guidelines while preparing necessary documentation.
As a consultant for Patient Safety initiatives, the PSC will assist in developing and implementing programs that foster a culture of safety across all patient care settings. This role requires the consolidation of safety-related documents and providing expert guidance on regulations and policies affecting patient safety operations.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary: Competitive salary with regular increases and potential performance bonuses.
Leave: 50 days of paid time off annually, including annual leave, sick leave, and paid federal holidays.

Licensure: Must hold a full and unrestricted nursing license from any U.S. state or territory.
Work Schedule: Standard hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens are unavailable.
- All selected candidates must pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- Registration with Selective Service is required for males born after December 31, 1959.
- Probationary period may be required.
- Background/security investigation will be conducted.
- Completion of an online onboarding process is mandatory.
- Pre-employment physical examination is required.
- Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all healthcare personnel.
- Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination requirements is mandatory for all healthcare personnel.
- BSN or MSN degree.
- 3-5 years of experience in quality strategy implementation, including data collection and action plan monitoring.
- Experience in guiding and supporting staff from a patient safety perspective.
- Proficiency in Root Cause Analysis.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to changing demands.
Role involves walking, bending, and some lifting in direct patient care, along with extended periods of sitting.
