Position Overview:

As Happy Returns continues to expand, we have established several operational hubs in recent years. Our Facility Operations Technicians are essential in providing hands-on maintenance and support for our warehouse activities. This includes executing preventive maintenance protocols, performing equipment repairs, coordinating with external service providers, assisting with operational initiatives, conducting minor repairs, and responding to emergencies.

The Facility Operations Technician will specifically oversee and maintain warehouse automation systems, such as conveyor belts, powered industrial vehicles, manual material handling tools, and dock equipment to ensure optimal production within our hubs. Additionally, this role involves supporting building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, signage, and the overall structure of the facility. The Technician will also be responsible for identifying and onboarding local vendors to assist with facility maintenance and installation projects. Other duties include setting up and repairing workstations and collaborating on infrastructure improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure machinery and mechanical systems operate effectively by completing preventive and corrective maintenance tasks. This includes working with conveyor systems, motors, gearboxes, pneumatic systems, and dock equipment.
  • Maintain facilities in accordance with established standards and procedures, adapting them as necessary to meet evolving business and customer needs.
  • Contribute to a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all occupants and visitors.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of daily warehouse operations.
  • Follow technical diagrams, manuals, and engineering specifications to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Identify problems by observing equipment in operation, listening for irregularities, and utilizing precision measuring instruments.
  • Diagnose, repair, and install electronic or electro-mechanical components such as circuit breakers and proximity switches.
  • Minimize downtime by keeping operations informed of routine maintenance schedules.
  • Collaborate with management to create and implement maintenance strategies and suggest improvements.
  • Document actions, communicate issues, and schedule repairs to maintain team continuity.
  • Work with third-party contractors and vendors to support property maintenance.
  • Ensure a safe and orderly work environment by adhering to safety regulations and procedures.
  • Foster a positive workplace culture by integrating feedback from team members.

Qualifications:

  • Certification or diploma in a relevant field is required.
  • Completion of an industrial maintenance apprenticeship or technical licensure is advantageous.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in similar facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial equipment maintenance and safety protocols, particularly for material handling systems.
  • Experience with diagnosing and repairing electrical control panels and interpreting schematics is preferred.
  • Self-motivated and safety-conscious individual.
  • Ability to apply standard tools and techniques to resolve issues.
  • Exhibit a proactive attitude and take ownership of personal performance.
  • Ability to manage time and responsibilities effectively while following directions.
  • Flexibility to work on-call for emergency situations.
