Job Title: Early Learning Assistant Teacher

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Early Learning Assistant Teacher to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids. As an Early Learning Assistant Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and nurturing environment for our youngest learners.

Job Summary:

The Early Learning Assistant Teacher will assist in the planning, development, and implementation of classroom activities for our Early Learning programs. This position requires face-to-face leadership in the classroom and may involve early morning responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Lead Teacher in developing and leading daily lesson plans
  • Engage with children in the classroom, promoting social, emotional, and cognitive development
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, keeping them informed of their child's progress
  • Prepare materials for daily activities, ensuring a safe and engaging environment
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, arrival, and departure times
  • Supervise children during activities and transitions
  • Assist the Lead Teacher with parent-teacher conferences as needed
  • Communicate effectively with the classroom teaching team, ensuring a cohesive and supportive learning environment
Requirements:
  • Infant Toddler CDA credential or Associates/Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Three to six months childcare-related experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles
  • Ability and desire to work with and care for infants, toddlers, and preschool children
  • Working knowledge of computers and experience with a variety of software applications
