Job Summary:

The Lifeguard II will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all participants in our aquatic programs. This position involves collaborating with the Aquatic Manager to oversee daily operations of the aquatic facilities. Responsibilities include monitoring pool activities, enforcing safety regulations, and providing excellent service to all program participants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage the aquatic environment to ensure a safe and welcoming atmosphere for all users.
  • Enforce pool rules and regulations to maintain safety and convenience for members.
  • Attend scheduled staff and management meetings as directed.
  • Maintain and properly utilize all equipment assigned to the aquatic facilities.
  • Report any safety hazards or incidents promptly to the Aquatics Manager.
  • Conduct swim lessons for children of various age groups and abilities, as well as aquatic exercise programs.

Qualifications:

  • Current certifications in Starfish Aquatics Institute StarGuard, American Red Cross First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and Lifeguard Training.
  • Must obtain StarGuard Swim Instructor certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Minimum age of 16 years.
  • Experience as a certified lifeguard for at least one year.
  • Ability to work effectively with the public and collaborate with team members.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, particularly with children and families.
  • Dependable and capable of handling emergency situations calmly and effectively.

Physical Requirements:

Applicants must be able to perform essential job functions with or without accommodation. Proficiency in swimming is required, including the ability to complete a 300-yard swim in under 10 minutes and tread water with a brick for 5 minutes. The role involves physical activities such as walking, standing, and lifting up to 100 pounds.
