About the Job

The ASPCA Animal Hospital is seeking a skilled Veterinarian to join our team. As a Veterinarian, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, practical veterinary care to a wide range of outpatients and inpatients. You will work in a fast-paced, urgent care environment and will be expected to make decisions quickly and juggle multiple priorities simultaneously.

Responsibilities
  • Manage Medical Cases (80%): Provide high-quality, practical veterinary care to a wide range of outpatients and inpatients; skilled and efficient diagnosis and treatment of outpatients and hospitalized animals within hospital medical parameters and budgetary guidelines
  • Provide In-House Veterinary Coverage (25% of medical duties): Oversee admission of patients from the ASPCA Adoption Center, kitten nursery, ARC and CARE; Recommend treatment plans, provide inpatient care, and oversee drop offs for procedures and diagnostics
  • Provide Medical Coverage for the Animal Recovery Center- ARC (5% of medical duties): Primary case responsibility for animals involved in cruelty and neglect cases; Perform medical intake exams and initial diagnostics for ARC NYPD and Community Engagement cases

  • Ability to successfully work in a high-volume, fast-paced urgent care practice
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills and good judgment
  • Strong analysis and interpretation skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, adapt to changing circumstances, make decisions quickly and juggle multiple priorities simultaneously
