Job Title: Truck Service Manager

Our Service Department is an integral part of the dealership, and building open, honest relationships with customers and other departments is vital to our success. The Service Manager takes the lead in managing an efficient and profitable Service Department through productive staffing, customer retention, technician training, and quality workmanship.

Essential Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure Service Department growth and profitability
  2. Understand and ensure compliance with all International and vendor policies and warranty procedures
  3. Review and sign off on all Service Department outside purchases
  4. Review warranty performance statements on ISIS monthly
  5. Review warranty charge backs with Warranty Administrator weekly
  6. Review over 60 days warranty debits weekly
  7. Review open repair orders over 30 days to ensure closure and payment
  8. Review C.O.D. repair orders to ensure vehicle and keys are on premises
  9. Attend International's Parts and Service Managers annual meeting
  10. Maintain high-quality service repairs to minimize comebacks
  11. Ensure fair and equal assignment of work
  12. Investigate vehicle completion by conducting spot checks
  13. Stay up-to-date on warranty policies and product changes
  14. Provide current manufacturers' vendor training courses
  15. Review completed repair orders and technician comments
  16. Understand and stay up-to-date on federal, state, and local regulations
  17. Maintain a safe and clean work environment
  18. Ensure current and required tools are purchased
  19. Hold monthly staff and technician meetings
  20. Explain completed work and charges to customers
  21. Interview potential Service Department employees
  22. Ensure service staff members perform duties outlined in job descriptions
  23. Seek out and secure new service business
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of eight years technical experience in the medium/heavy-duty truck industry
  • Customer-sensitive with strong communication skills
  • Promote continuous improvement within the department
  • Maintain high product and technical knowledge
  • Team player with a strong commitment to the customer
  • Self-motivated with good written and verbal communication skills
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner
  • Adjust to multiple demands and shifting priorities
  • Accept and react to change and lead others in a similar positive direction
  • Superior problem-solving skills to achieve a win-win solution
  • Understand, communicate, and evaluate all vendor and International warranty guidelines
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Microsoft programs and applications
  • Good organizational skills
  • Commercial driver's license (CDL) to operate and road test customer vehicles
  • Knowledge of dealer and fleet maintenance procedures and systems
  • Willingness to pursue self-development courses
  • Working knowledge of International and supplier/vendor warranty policies
  • Ability to utilize the full capabilities of ISIS
