This role is for an Electrical Quality Assurance Supervisor specializing in Instrumentation and Control within the industrial construction sector. The position is initially a contract role with the potential for transition to full-time employment.

Role Overview

As the Electrical Quality Assurance Supervisor, you will play a vital role in overseeing the quality standards during the construction of a lithium refinery plant. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the Quality Manager in maintaining site quality benchmarks in line with relevant codes, standards, specifications, and contractual obligations. You will manage all QA/QC processes and procedures on-site, collaborating with various teams to ensure safe and high-quality installations. This position demands strong technical judgment and innovative problem-solving skills to support field operations effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the inspection and testing of materials, components, and products to ensure compliance with established quality standards and applicable regulations.
  • Review and monitor the Contractor Site Quality Plan.
  • Interpret design specifications and drawings.
  • Implement established protocols for inspection activities.
  • Supervise contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure quality compliance during the installation of materials and equipment.
  • Monitor the receipt of concrete deliveries, ensuring adherence to the specified mix design and slump requirements.
  • Review Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) according to project specifications and enforce compliance.
  • Manage QA/QC processes, procedures, testing, and inspections for both self-performed and contractor construction work.
  • Oversee the site CR/NCN processes.
  • Coordinate and schedule resources for inspection and testing across all construction activities on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Investigate and resolve quality-related issues.
  • Coordinate third-party inspections as necessary.
  • Support the development and review of project scopes of work, work plans, and resource requirements.
  • Inspect and document the acceptance of construction activities and installations.
  • Conduct observations and inspections of welded and bolted structural steel members and connections, as well as piping fabrication and welding.
  • Review and verify approved welding procedures.
  • Ensure all field activities align with project specifications, procedures, and current design documents.
  • Possess a general understanding of static and rotating equipment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of QA/QC inspection experience
  • Background in Instrumentation and Electrical QA
  • Experience with conduits, duct banks, cable trades, terminations, and low to high voltage systems
  • NCCER certification
  • Electrical Journeyman certification
  • Experience with spot inspections, documentation, and reporting
  • Industry experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial sectors
  • Ability to monitor contractors' scopes of work to ensure compliance with specifications and requirements
  • Strong documentation, reporting, and IT&P experience
  • Prior experience on projects exceeding $500M, with insights from both owner and contractor perspectives
  • Knowledge of construction industry codes (AWS, ASME, NFPA, NEC, ACI, etc.)
  • Experience conducting quality audits
  • Broad understanding of quality principles and their application across engineering, environmental, procurement, construction, testing, operations, and commissioning
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements impacting quality programs
  • Ability to navigate between QC requirements for self-performed construction and QA oversight of subcontractor work
  • Adaptability to change, proactive attitude, and strong cultural fit
  • Willingness to learn and grow in the role
