- Material Processing: Accurately process and sort materials, including returned items, reserved materials, and new materials, to ensure efficient and effective delivery to customers.
- Account Management: Assist customers with library card accounts, including processing applications, verifying information, and enforcing account rules and regulations.
- Financial Management: Manage cash and credit transactions, balancing and reconciling cash drawers, and preparing deposits.
- Problem-Solving: Resolve customer account disputes by interviewing customers, analyzing account information, and negotiating solutions.
- Location Operations: Assist with opening and closing procedures, maintaining location supplies, and ensuring the location is clean and organized.
- Collection Maintenance: Identify and solve problems with library materials, performing cleaning and processing tasks to maintain the collection.
- Training and Support: Provide training on library technology to customers and staff, and assist with troubleshooting technical issues.
- Volunteer Coordination: Coordinate volunteer activities and orient new staff to Customer Services Specialist tasks.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Communication Skills: Ability to express self effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of Internet and database services, and ability to operate library technology.
- Reliability: Ability to utilize reliable transportation to promptly report to job assignment and other locations, as required.
