Job Summary:

As a key member of the Northwestern University Institutional Review Board (IRB) Office, the IRB Analyst Associate plays a critical role in ensuring the protection of human subjects involved in research activities. Under the supervision of senior staff, this entry-level professional will coordinate daily activities, review and approve research protocols, and implement the IRB program to support the internal and external research community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide guidance and assistance to investigators on procedural requirements for IRB review.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for inquiries into the IRB Office, providing information on study status and relevant regulations.
  • Process and review less complex IRB submissions.
  • Assist IRB chairs, members, and researchers on regulations and ethical principles essential to the review process.
  • Participate in special projects for the office and provide backup to IRB analysts as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated characteristics: adaptability, agility, collegiality, customer focus, ethical judgment, multi-tasking, and integrity.
  • Computer proficiency, report writing, and research regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interpersonal and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in a related field.
  • Previous IRB experience.
  • Certified IRB Professional credential.
  • Experience with Huron's Click IRB software and HRPP Toolkit.
