Job Summary:

As an IRB Analyst Associate at Northwestern University, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and welfare of human research subjects. Under the supervision of experienced professionals, you will coordinate the daily activities of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) Office, overseeing the review and approval process of research activities involving human participants. This is an entry-level position that offers opportunities for growth and development in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide guidance and assistance to investigators regarding the procedural requirements of the Northwestern Institutional Review Board (IRB).
  • Act as the main point of contact for inquiries into the IRB Office, providing information on the status of studies and citing relevant regulations and policy requirements.
  • Process and review less complex IRB submissions.
  • Assist IRB chairs, members, and researchers on the regulations and ethical principles essential to the review process.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Demonstrated characteristics: adaptability, agility, collegiality, customer focus, ethical judgment, multi-tasking, and integrity.
  • Computer proficiency, report writing, and research regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
  • Interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing, in person, and by telephone.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in a related academic field.
  • Previous IRB experience.
  • Certified IRB Professional credential.
  • Experience with Huron's Click IRB software and HRPP Toolkit.
