Key Responsibilities- Assist dentists and dental hygienists with patient examinations and dental procedures
- Maintain office files and patient records
- Assist patients with insurance eligibility and verify patient intake information
- Obtain and document patient vital signs
- Prepare dental instruments and materials for each patient
- Assist with radiographic examinations and process diagnostic digital X-rays
- Clean, sterilize, and assemble dental instruments following treatment
- Maintain dental equipment and clinic area in neat and clean condition
- Assist with patient dismissal and scheduling appointments
- Update dental patient records in the Dentrix database system
- Prepare receipts for services rendered and collect fees
- Complete daily and weekly logs for equipment maintenance and biological indicators
- High School Diploma, GED, or higher and completion of an accredited dental assistant program
- Six (6) years of experience in a dental office, clinic, or clinical dental chairside dental treatment, including two (2) years of experience in a pediatric or public health dental setting
- Certification as a Dental Assistant through completion of a dental assistant course from an accredited college or technical school, and certification in Dental X-Ray proficiency as prescribed by the Texas Department of Health
- Valid Texas Class C driver's license or equivalent from another state
