Job Title: Postdoctoral Scholar

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to join our team in the College of Engineering, Graduate Program in Acoustics at The Pennsylvania State University.

About the Position

The successful candidate will conduct research in one or more of the following fields:

  • Ultrasound twinkling artifact for detecting and monitoring mineralizations;
  • Evaluating where bubble nuclei exist in healthy and diseased tissues;
  • Developing focused ultrasound to treat mineralizations;
  • Monitoring cavitation for underwater applications.

Some projects may include participation on in vivo studies. Preferred candidates should have experience in programming the Verasonics research ultrasound system, working with in vivo animal models, focused ultrasound, and mentoring students.

Responsibilities

The Postdoctoral Scholar will play a critical role in maintaining ongoing research while Dr. Simon is Interim director of the program. As such, they will also work on writing research proposals and publishing results. Good communication, teamwork, and leadership skills are required to work in a collaborative, diverse, and inclusive environment.

Requirements

The position requires a PhD in Acoustics, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics or a closely related field. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently and as part of a team to achieve research goals.
