Position Overview

The Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) is seeking a Senior Auditor to join our Internal Review Office at headquarters. This pivotal role involves executing comprehensive financial, performance, and systems audits across various DeCA operations, including headquarters, field activities, distribution centers, and retail locations.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the Senior Auditor include:

  • Conducting detailed audits to assess financial integrity and operational efficiency.
  • Performing integrated analyses of complex operations and accounting systems to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Compiling findings from multi-location audits into cohesive summary reports.
  • Verifying adherence to laws, directives, and internal policies.
  • Evaluating the accuracy and reliability of financial records and supporting documentation.
Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet one of the following educational requirements:

  • A degree in accounting or a related field, supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting courses.
  • A combination of at least 4 years of relevant accounting experience and education that provides professional accounting knowledge.

Additionally, candidates must possess:

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level.
  • Experience applying accounting and auditing practices effectively.
  • Proficiency in analyzing complex operations for compliance and accuracy.
Additional Requirements

Applicants must also fulfill the following criteria:

  • Ability to perform sedentary work with occasional walking to validate inventories and observe procedures.
  • Compliance with time-in-grade requirements for federal employees.
  • Completion of a minimum of 90 days of federal civilian service for current employees.
Work Environment

This position is primarily office-based, with occasional onsite audit activities at various commissaries. Telework options are available based on agency policy.
