Fabrication Specialist Job Description

As a Fabrication Specialist at MAAG Group, you will play a crucial role in producing high-quality parts and products for various industries. Your primary responsibility will be to operate and maintain various machinery and equipment, including laser cutting machines, press brakes, and saws.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain machinery and equipment to produce parts and products
  • Program and set up machines for projects, spares, and special items
  • Update PEP programming software with new drawings or revisions
  • Verify nesting, programs, and setups before running them on the machine
  • Train others on equipment and programming
  • Support continuous improvement in productivity, efficiency, quality, and testing new production items
  • Select and set up tools based on material type and thickness
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, legs, and body
  • Provide attention to detail and focus on tasks
  • Good measurement and mathematical skills
  • Ability to distinguish material types, including Aluminum, Steel, and Stainless Steel
  • Problem-solving skills to identify and fix machine issues
  • Ability to work long hours and perform repetitive movements
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Windows 8 or higher, CAD/CAM, and touch screens
  • Desire to grow through technical training and professional development
  • Monitoring of raw material inventory levels and optimizing with others
  • Ability to work with little supervision and multitask
  • Ability to read blueprints and operate forklifts for loading/movement of raw materials
  • Keep work areas clean and organized
  • Strong team player with a reliable attitude
  • Follow all safety rules, quality standards, company rules, and policies

Work Environment:

As a Fabrication Specialist, you will work in a factory floor environment, either locally or at a customer site. You may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud, and personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required.

Physical Requirements:

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The employee must be able to lift items up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Education and Experience:

Mandatory:

High School diploma or equivalent education (additional technical skills a plus)

Desirable:

Strong computer skills
