Lead Medical Technologist

A prominent healthcare facility is seeking a Team Leader for its Transfusion Services. This position operates primarily during the day with occasional evening, night, and weekend shifts as required.

Job Responsibilities:
The primary role involves identifying the presence or absence of diseases and providing essential data to assist physicians in determining optimal patient treatments. Specialty areas of laboratory medicine encompass clinical chemistry, hematology, transfusion services, clinical immunology, clinical microbiology, serology, and the emerging domain of molecular diagnostics.
Essential Skills:
- Calibrate, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Exhibit dexterity and excellent hand-eye coordination for specimen collection and preparation.
- Prioritize lab safety and infection control protocols.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Conducting tests across various laboratory areas: clinical chemistry, hematology, transfusion services (blood bank), clinical immunology, clinical microbiology, serology, and molecular diagnostics.
- Ensuring accurate specimen labeling, sorting, logging, and arranging reports for delivery; maintaining quality results and equipment functionality through troubleshooting and quality control measures.
- Engaging in staff training and educational initiatives; identifying and reporting abnormal patient conditions to the relevant health authorities.
- Contributing to a secure environment by adhering to established standards and legal regulations.
- Safeguarding patient confidentiality by maintaining the privacy of laboratory information.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Certification as SBB(ASCP).
- Two to five years of experience with leadership responsibilities in Blood Bank.
