Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Cardiac Sonographer to join our team at UnityPoint Health. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing high-quality ultrasound examinations and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations on adult patients, including inpatients and outpatients
  • Apply cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic information and images
  • Analyze sonograms, process sonographic information, and communicate findings to physicians
  • Prepare preliminary reports and contact referring physicians as needed
  • Initiate billing for testing performed
  • Coordinate work schedule with department lead or manager to ensure workload coverage
  • Assume responsibility for patient safety and comfort
  • Maintain and recognize malfunctioning equipment, perform minor troubleshooting, and initiate repair service when warranted
  • Participate in laboratory accreditation process and department quality improvement processes
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited cardiac sonography program
  • Eligible to register with ARDMS or CCI and registry to occur within first year of hire
  • Fluent English language skills
  • Multicultural sensitivity
  • Microsoft Office basic computer skills
  • Customer/patient-focused
  • Critical thinking skills using independent judgment
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Sciences or Health Science
  • Minimum of one year experience in vascular diagnostics
  • Current registry in cardiac sonography through ARDMS/CCI
