Low Voltage Technician

Job Description

FSG is a leading provider of low-voltage solutions, seeking a skilled technician to join their team in the Houston area. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical/dental insurance, 401K, and a robust PTO plan.

As a Low Voltage Technician, you will be responsible for installing, testing, and terminating copper and/or fiber optic cabling in a construction environment. You will work with hand tools, power tools, ladders, and testing equipment to ensure high-quality installations.

The ideal candidate will have at least six months of installation experience, a valid driver's license, and reliable transportation. Industry certifications, such as BICSI, are a plus. OSHA certification is also preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Pull, test, and terminate CAT5e/6a cabling in a commercial environment
  • Install support structures, such as J-hooks, saddles, slings, and cable tray
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and testing equipment
  • Label cables in a neat and organized manner
  • Test every newly installed or relocated cable in accordance with established procedures
  • Keep cable neatly tied and bundled while maintaining safety standards
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of National Building Codes and standards
  • Record time and materials used
  • Assist other team members with installation and maintenance
  • Provide answers to clients by identifying problems, researching answers, and guiding clients through corrective steps
  • Research required information using available resources

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least six months of installation experience
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
  • Must be able to pass drug and background screen
  • Industry Certifications, such as BICSI, are a plus
  • Manufacturer training certifications, (CommScope, Panduit, etc.) are a plus
  • OSHA preferred
