The Medical Laboratory Assistant plays a vital role in the pre-analytical processing of biological specimens for testing in the clinical laboratory. This position is responsible for data entry, processing test orders, and ensuring proper patient registration.
Key Responsibilities- Perform data entry of client demographic information
- Process test orders and review for accuracy
- Reconcile specimen/order problems and collect specimens
- Assist with facilitating send-out testing and ensure proper labeling of samples
- Perform or assist with EKGs, CLIA-waived, or moderately complex patient testing duties
- Demonstrate proper infection control and assist Clinical Supervisors/Managers as needed
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Certification as a Medical/Clinical Laboratory Assistant or phlebotomist
- Student enrolled in an accredited Bachelor of Science program in a science-related major or Bachelor of Science degree
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Basic computer skills and strong customer service skills
- Light Physical Agility Test (PAT) Rating
