ResponsibilitiesFor over 65 years, Arcfield has provided comprehensive support to the Navy Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) through extensive research, development, and analysis. The physicist will engage in scientific analysis and computational modeling to assess radiation environments and their impacts on strategic weapon systems (SWS) and personnel safety.
The role includes:
- Conducting radiation transport calculations for various environments.
- Performing studies on intrinsic radiation for personnel safety.
- Validating simulation models and results through rigorous verification and validation processes.
- Collaborating with software engineers to integrate physics-based models into maintainable software.
- Assisting in the planning and execution of tests at various facilities.
- Preparing technical documentation and delivering presentations to stakeholders.
- Interfacing directly with customers and traveling as required for meetings.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Physics or Nuclear Engineering with relevant experience; advanced degrees preferred.
- Proven experience in experimental design and technical report writing.
- Ability to present complex results to technical experts and government representatives.
- Must possess and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.
Desired:
- PhD in Physics or Nuclear Engineering.
- Experience with radiation transport methodologies.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to lead a team of skilled professionals.
- Familiarity with computational tools such as MCNP, Atilla, Matlab, or Python.
