Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Diesel Shop Manager to oversee the maintenance and repair of our fleet of trucks at S & H Trucking, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the diesel shop facility, performing tractor trailer repair and maintenance work, and ensuring compliance with company standards and regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and mentor a team of mechanics, safety technicians, and wash crew to ensure efficient and effective maintenance and repair operations.
  • Coordinate with office staff and drivers to ensure timely and accurate service and repairs.
  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on diesel equipment, including trucks and heavy equipment.
  • Work with external vendors to source and repair equipment as needed.
  • Drive and move trucks and trailers as required.
  • Order and manage parts, tools, and supplies to maintain a well-stocked and efficient shop.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, including DOT Safety Regulations.
  • Perform administrative duties, including receiving and entering repairs on the company's computer system.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment for all employees.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in shop management, preferably in the diesel or heavy equipment industry.
  • 5+ years of experience in fleet maintenance, with a strong understanding of diesel engine repair and maintenance.
  • Able to lift at least 90lbs (tires) and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • High professional behavior and work ethic, with excellent reading and writing skills.
  • Diesel Engine, Truck & Heavy Equipment Mechanics certification, with a Class A CDL.
